Girona & Dalí Tour
Be seduced by the enchanting city of Girona, also known as the “Catalan Florence” and visit the most important museum of the world-renowned genius of painting: Salvador Dalí!
INFORMATION
The city of Girona is one of the most beautiful population centres of Catalonia that has an uncanny resemblance to the city of Florence by its distinctive architecture along the banks of the Onyar river. The old centre rises steeply upon a hill on which the old Jewish quarter stands and rising up to the majestic gothic cathedral with the widest single nave in the world. The outline of its medieval streets reminds us of a glorious past, of its resistance to numerable invasions, giving it a sense of the Eternal. The old Jewish quarter stands as one of the best preserved in Europe featuring the Bonastruc Sa Porta centre, presently the Museum of Jewish history, which occupies one of the city’s old synagogues.
Dalí: the Dalí museum in Figueres is the birthplace of one of our world-renowned painters, Salvador Dalí. This museum is located in the old Figueres theatre where Dalí himself gave his first exhibition at 15 years of age. The Dalí theatre-museum is not only famous for the works that it contains such as "La Galatea", "The Bread Basket", "The Hallucinogenic Toreador ", "Portrait of Gala naked which at a distance of 17 metres becomes a portrait of Abraham Lincoln", "The Palace of the Wind ", but also because the museum was designed by Dalí himself turning it into, in the artist’s own words, “the largest surrealist artwork in the world”.
